“Big Bertha” was the nick-name given to one of Germany’s long-range Howitzer cannons. Its shells were capable of reaching Paris from the German lines. To move it from one place to the next, the Bavarian army used the train rails. It was used only one time and then retired as it was even too much for the Germans who designed to use. The main reason it was conceived was to show the Entente forces that the Germans had the ability to fire upon Paris.
