The League of Nations, one of the sections in Wilson's "14 Points," this was the precursor to the current United Nations. This was Woodrow Wilsons attempt after the end of World War One to bring about peace within the world. He felt that if there was a league or meeting place for all willing countries to discuss their issues with one another then there would be no need for armed conflict. Suprisingly, once the League of Nations came into being, the United States Congress refused to be a part of it. This was a sad moment for Wilson. Only later would they recant and decide to join.
